Tomorrow, on 1/18/2025, I will launch my new venture, "The Poet's Wife by Curried Myrrh". I am so thankful for this change becoming a reality-what a blessing! It's been 6 1/2 months in the making (a couple of years before actually-as the idea has been brewing...), and a whole heap of work to get here.
A few thoughts on where I've been, and where I am:
14 years now I have been creating 'hair accessories for the modern tribe' - mostly for Free People (I love my Free People people), and also on my own store. Change is good and refreshing however, and it was time for mine.
I always default to 'fancy', I don't know-perhaps it's my Copenhagen heritage or some other wildly wonderful royal lineage buried in my bloodline-nonetheless, pretty, sparkly and dramatic is my tendency, and I love it.
I also have come to love brides greatly. Maybe it was my own daughter's wedding, or the fact that I never had an official wedding myself; but the bride and her whole ritual is deeply profound and special to me. The contemplating, the curating, the refining into what is then presented to the love of her life & her people. The place, the dress - the headpiece - the crown of all crowns of her life. I adore the profundity of that, and I cannot get enough of it.
Epic tales and sagas in literature; fairy tales and heroines, they are what captivate my soul and inspire me to create for the new heroines around me...those that are on the very thresholds of their great stories. The heroes of real life that are creating their dreams, facing insurmountable odds, surviving catastrophes - holding hope, and joy and truth and strength. I wish to crown you!
And, I am also very excited to work with beads--precious, tiny & light. Give me a carpet bag with a little wire, beads, a plier and cutter-and flowers and fancy will follow.
So bring me brides, bring me stories...bring me the poetry of your life; and I will weave you a crown of glory for your day.
Much love,
the Poet's Wife
